FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Traffic stop end with drug arrest

It was another successful night for Washington County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies   when a traffic stop led to the recovery of over 20 grams of marijuana.  The driver, Keith Orrie Dean, 26 year old white male, was in route via I-10 through Washington County when deputies noticed the vehicle was pulling a trailer that was not displaying a tag.  During questioning the driver, officers noticed the strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle.  Deputies requested and were given permission to search the vehicle and a K-9 team was also brought to the scene to search the vehicle.  Over 20 grams of marijuana and narcotic equipment was found during the search.  Dean was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of narcotic equipment and transported to the Washington County Jail.

“This is another in a long list of examples of our commitment to not allow Washington County to be thoroughfare for drug trafficking” states Sheriff Haddock.  “Our patrol officers are to be commended on their observation during these traffic stops and their dedication to keeping our roadways and communities safe.”
