Records and reports can be obtained through the following methods:

• Requesting the information in person from the Records Section of the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Located in the back of the Sheriff's Office, off 3rd street.
  Hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. -4 p.m.

Fees

• Copy of one (1) Police Report - $.10 per page.  Copies of multiple reports - $10.00 per hour for research and copies
• Background Checks for persons seeking EMPLOYMENT - $10.00
• Background Checks for persons seeking VOLUNTEER roles - FREE  **NOTE: You must possess a letter from the volunteer organization stating that you are seeking a Background Check for the purposes of volunteering.**

You must produce one (1) piece of PHOTO and one (1) piece of NON-PHOTO identification, which states your date of birth, to receive your Background Check.

WE ACCEPT CASH ONLY.

A Background Check is a valuable screening tool; however it is not a substitutes for appropriate hiring or screening practices and overall corporate due diligence.  It is up to the individual organization to consider the information provided by the Sheriff's Office or by the individual in question to make appropriate decisions about whether the information should exclude someone from a particular position or participation in their program.

The decision to engage or hire staff is not made by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.  The responsibility lies entirely with representatives of the organization.  The Washington County Sheriff's Office makes no representation or warranty with respect to suitability or reliability of the individual.

Statewide Background Checks

Requests for Florida Criminal History Information must be submitted to:

Requests must include: name, race, sex, date of birth, and any other identifying characteristics. A $23 fee (check or money order payable to FDLE), must accompany each request. This information is available as public record request.

National Record Check Information

Requests for National Criminal History Information must be submitted to:

Requests must include: applicant fingerprint card.
