FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Local High Volume Drug Dealer Convicted

Washington County Sheriff’s Office announces the conviction of Randy Jay Young, 43 year old white male, with a listed home address in the Ft. Walton Beach area.  Young, a long time drug dealer to Washington County , is scheduled to be sentenced in June after his conviction Wednesday on charges stemming from his May 2006 arrest which included trafficking in methamphetamines, possession of listed chemicals, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  The trafficking in methamphetamines charge alone carries a minimum mandatory sentence of 7 years in Department of Corrections and a $100,000 fine.  Young is scheduled for trial in Holmes County on similar charges.

“This is another big win for our office and Assistant State Attorney Barbara Finch” states Sheriff Haddock.   “When we put this type high volume drug dealer out of business there is a ripple effect throughout the illegal drug market in this county.  This is a victory not only for the sheriff’s office and state attorney, but for residents in the entire county.”
