Burglary at local business stopped mid track

While on patrol in the early hours of Monday, March 26th, a deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s office noticed Donald Lee Adams Jr., 17 year old white male, walking down brickyard road.  The deputy approached Mr. Adams to see if he needed assistance.  Mr. Adams indicated his vehicle was stuck in the woods.  The deputy found the vehicle behind Lane’s Outdoor Equipment and as the deputy approached the vehicle another male identified as Samuel Herbert Wright, 42 year old white male fled into the woods.  The vehicle had a $6,000 tractor loaded in the bed of the vehicle.  The deputy noticed a hole which had been cut into the fence owned by Lane’s Outdoor Equipment. Deputies notified the Washington Correctional Institution K-9 Team and K-9s tracked Mr. Wright for several hours, but where unable to locate him.  Deputies took Mr. Adams into custody and charged him with burglary and grand theft.  He was transported to the Washington County Jail.  A felony warrant has been issued for Mr. Wright.  “Had this deputy not taken the extra steps to check this situation out, we would not be reporting a successful outcome in this case, states Sheriff Haddock.  “Because he was proactive, we were able to protect this business from a sizable loss in property, which could be crippling to a small business.”
