IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wednesday,
April 2, 2008 deputies stopped a vehicle in the Chipley area for a
traffic infraction. During questioning, one of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office K-9’s alerted to the rear
bumper of the vehicle. Both the driver and the front seat
passenger, Israel Chavez Anton, 29 year old Hispanic male from the
Haines City, FL area were asked to exit the vehicle and deputies
proceeded to do a pat down search. During that search both a
pipe and a bag of methamphetamines was found on Anton. Anton
was arrested and charged with possession of narcotic equipment and
possession of methamphetamines. “This
is the perfect example of why our deputies never work off the
assumption that a stop will be routine” states Sheriff Haddock.
“Our deputies were able to make a very successful stop, with the
assistance of the Chipley Police Department, because of great
execution of extensive training.”
