FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cocaine and over $3,000 seized after traffic stop

It was another successful night for Washington County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies when a traffic stop led to the recovery of both powder cocaine and a large amount of cash from a vehicle traveling from the Destin area to Tallahassee .  When the vehicle was pulled over in the early hours of Thursday June 14, 2007, neither the driver nor the passenger had valid a driver’s license.  The vehicle also displayed a Georgia tag not registered to anyone in the vehicle.  After questioning the occupants of the vehicle, officers noticed both the driver and passenger were extremely nervous and had conflicting answers in reference to where they were traveling from and their destination.  Deputies requested and were given permission to search the vehicle and a K-9 team was also brought to the scene to search the vehicle and surrounding area.

Approximately one ounce of cocaine and over $3,000 in cash were found concealed in secret compartments in the vehicle.  The driver, Sidney Reynard Antrobus, 24 year old black male from Tallahassee , was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and driving while license was suspended. Antrobus was then transported to the Washington County Jail.

“While we are tirelessly trying to rid our community of drug dealers who set up shop here, we have an equally large issue with those who use Washington County as a route in which to transport drugs to our sister counties” states Sheriff Haddock.  “This county is growing by leaps and bounds every day and we will not allow our community to become a thoroughfare for drug dealers.”
