Threat on local bank resolved quickly

On Wednesday, April 25th at approximately 1:00 p.m. Washington County Sheriff’s Office dispatch department received a call advising a bomb threat had been made against Region’s Bank in Chipley , FL.   Chipley Police Department was immediately dispatched to the scene.  The bank was evacuated until an all clear was given.  After an initial investigation by Chipley Police Department, jurisdiction in the case was found to fall under the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.  Within two hours of the initial threat being made, Washington County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrived at 2436 Wood Road and arrested Carvil Howard Perdue III, 67 year old white male, and charged Mr. Perdue with making threats to place a destructive device into a facility.  The charge is a second degree felony and is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. 

“Officers from the Chipley Police Department arrived within minutes, secured the scene and did some great initial investigative work which gave our investigators every tool necessary to establish who made the threat and locate this person in a very short amount of time,” states Sheriff Haddock.  “It takes this kind of cooperation among local law enforcement to make sure we resolve these crimes successfully and I have nothing but praise for our guys and the Chipley Police Department.”
