Two arrested for possession during traffic stop

On Saturday, September 8, deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office pulled a vehicle over on Highway 79 in south Washington County for a traffic infraction.  During questioning of the vehicle’s driver, Thomas Lee Jones, 27 year old white male, deputies noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.  While searching the vehicle, deputies found both marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Jones was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.    

The passenger of the vehicle, Jerry Amzie Burgin, 23 year old white male, was searched and found to be in possession of cocaine.  Burgin was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.  Both Jones and Burgin are from the Montgomery , AL area. 

Convictions

Stemming from a drug arrest in late April 2007, William Wayne Bruner, 44 year old white male, was convicted and sentenced to 24 months in state prison.  Bruner was originally charged with possession of methamphetamines, sell and delivery of methamphetamines, possession of marijuana, and possession of xanax.  Bruner will serve his sentence in the Department of Corrections.
