FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington County Sheriff’s Office 10 Most Wanted a huge success

Since its inception in February 2007, close to 20 of Washington County most wanted have been either located or arrested after being placed on the 10 Most Wanted Flyer.  The overwhelming success of this program has been a direct result of the support from local media and several tips from the community, both of which have been an invaluable tool used by law enforcement to find the people responsible for several crimes committed throughout Washington County and in some cases, our surrounding counties as well.

The majority of the most wanted consist of career criminals who have consistently been a thorn in the side of law enforcement.  The Washington County Sheriff’s Office most wanted have included those wanted for non-payment of child support, drug charges, bad checks, sex offenders failing to register, burglary, violation of probation, resisting officers and escape, grand theft, and several other charges.  “Often criminals convince themselves that if they dodge law enforcement long enough we will just go away,” states Sheriff Haddock.  “We want to make it clear to those who have active warrants that we will continue to put the heat on them until the moment they are placed into custody.  We will make it as uncomfortable as possible for those who choose to hide these people out and we will make it seem impossible to live and work in Washington County while on the run from law enforcement.”

Washington County Sheriff’s Office would also like take this opportunity to offer our sincerest thanks to every member of community, media, and law enforcement family who has assisted our office with the capture of these individuals.  We ask that you to continue your partnership with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as we strive put each one of the most wanted behind bars.
